How well do you know your cat?

Maybe you think you know your cat very well but do you really ?

Can you tell if he is unwell but not showing any symptoms?

If you know your cat ,you will also know the difference between him having just one “Off” day and when he is genuinely ill.

Study your cat and understand his behaviour. Is he a lazy cat that likes to sleep a lot?

Or is he a very active cat. If he is active and starts sleeping more than usual then maybe he his feeling unwell. Don’t think that because your cat is not crying with pain that there is nothing wrong with him. Most cats that are ill or in pain will just sleep more and purr a lot even if he is in extreme pain or not showing any other outward symptoms

When you stroke him try and examine his body for cuts or bites. Bites are often hidden by fur and can be infected but cannot be seen. Check his claws are any of them frayed as this will indicate a fall or a knock.

Is he of his food or having trouble with eating? Then check the teeth or mouth area if he will let you. Teeth can cause a lot of problems and cannot always be detected by the owner.

I have a lot of cats but I do know their individual behaviour patterns so when one of them is acting differently I will always check him over or keep an eye on him for a few days before getting him checked by the vet.
